The China Comparative Education Society (CCES) calls for proposals for the XVI World Congress of Comparative Education Societies, taking place 22-26 August 2022 at Beijing Normal University in Beijing, China. 

The Congress Organizing Committee welcomes quality paper, panel, poster, and workshop proposals relating to the conference theme. The theme of the World Congress is Dialectics of Education: Comparative Perspectives. Dialectics designates a family of thought with origins spanning the globe from east to west and south to north. Different forms of dialectics—including Daoism, Socratic dialogue, Hindu, Buddhist, Medieval, Hegelian, Marxist, Talmudic, and Neo-orthodoxy—have emerged throughout history and remain relevant today. This theme provides a way of thinking for discussion on all aspects education.

The world is experiencing profound change, which includes an acceleration ofeconomic globalization, international competition and collaboration, and science and technology development. Radically reconfigured contexts present themselves to educators and scholars in the form of challenges and opportunities.  Emphasis will be placed on bridging gaps between the following thematic groups as well as identifying distinctions in how countries and cultures approach globalization, international co-operation through education, and science and technology development.

●Submission Guidelines

The Congress encourages dialogue and discussion, promotes and disseminates high quality research in the field of comparative and international education. To achieve this goal, we encourage proposals that are theoretically-oriented, evidence-based, and/or discuss old or new inquiries and initiatives in comparative and international education.

Submission Categories and Criteria

Proposals for papers, posters, panels, and workshops are invited from scholars working in areas related to these streams. Case studies of individual nations, provinces, states, systems or regions, or comparative studies within the Asia-Pacific region are particularly welcome. Other related topics will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  No more than two papers from the same author will be accepted for the program.

Submission Requirements

Abstracts should be between 300 and 500 words related to the conference theme and/or thematic groups.  Please submit abstracts using our online submission system in MS Word (.doc or .docx) and PDF files.

Submission Deadlines

The submission system opens on 10 November 2015, and closes on 15 March 2022 at 11:59pm Beijing Time. Due to the projected number of abstracts anticipated, no late submissions will be accepted.  Abstracts must be submitted online.

Proposals should be electronically submitted through our online submission system and comply with the requirements detailed in the guidelines in the system. Proposals that do not comply with these requirements will not be considered for inclusion in the program.

Acceptance notifications will be sent no later than 15 May 2022 for submissions received.

●General Policies

a) Participant attendance requirement:

All authors of accepted papers and all participants in panel sessions are expected to attend the WCCES 2022 Congress and must be present at the scheduled session. If an emergency or other circumstance prevents an author from attending the WCCES 2022 Congress, s/he should immediately notify the WCCES 2022 Congress Committee at [email protected].

b) Equipment:

Standard presentation equipment (LCD and PowerPoint-equipped PCs) will be available for all sessions. Presentation slides and electronic materials must be formatted to be compatible with PC / Microsoft Windows. Presentations must be saved to your own personal “memory stick” and be ready to upload prior to your presentation.

c) Proposal review and selection process:

All submitted proposals will be peer reviewed by experienced scholars in the field of comparative and international education.
